Banhez Tepeztate

Banhez Tepeztate is a 100% tepeztate agave mezcal artesanal from the Banhez co-operative in Oaxaca — a rare bottling of a unique wild agave that can take 25–35 years to mature. Rich in smoke and terroir-driven earthiness, with a green-pepper vegetal nose and soft green-apple fruitiness.

Banhez is produced by Integradora Comercial de Ejutla, a co-operative of 36+ families in San Miguel Ejutla, Oaxaca, committed to sustainable, fair-trade mezcal made as it has been for nearly two centuries — underground wood-fired pits, donkey-pulled stone tahonas, wooden-tank fermentation, and small-batch copper distillation.
