Banhez Arroqueño Joven Mezcal Artesanal
Banhez Arroqueño Joven is a 100% arroqueño agave mezcal artesanal from the Banhez co-operative in Oaxaca — an enormous agave species that can take up to 25 years to reach full maturity, found only in rural Oaxaca. Earthy and dark, with subtle smoke and an underlying sweetness.
Banhez is produced by Integradora Comercial de Ejutla, a co-operative of 36+ families in San Miguel Ejutla, Oaxaca, committed to sustainable, fair-trade mezcal made as it has been for nearly two centuries — underground wood-fired pits, donkey-pulled stone tahonas, wooden-tank fermentation, and small-batch copper distillation.
