Korbel Brandy VSOP Gold Reserve is a California brandy from Korbel — Very Special Old Pale (VSOP), aged exclusively in premium oak barrels for over two years, with the richness, complexity, and smoothness best savored from a snifter.

Korbel’s brandy roots go back to founder Francis Korbel — a young Bohemian who took part in the 1848 Bohemian Revolution and escaped imprisonment by calmly walking out an unlocked gate wearing civilian clothes brought by his mother, smoking a cigar. He fled to New York, learned cigar making, then moved to San Francisco during the California Gold Rush before opening a sawmill in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County with his brothers. Discovering that the climate of the Russian River Valley mirrored France’s Champagne region, Francis mastered the art of California brandy and traditional méthode champenoise sparkling wine. In 1889, seven years after the debut of his champagne, Francis Korbel began shipping his premium Korbel California brandy. By the turn of the century, Korbel was internationally known as an award-winning brandy.
