Colonel E.H. Taylor Seasoned Wood Bourbon Whiskey
Colonel E.H. Taylor Seasoned Wood Bourbon is an experimental release from the Colonel E.H. Taylor collection at Buffalo Trace — aged in barrels prepared from oak that was seasoned for an extended period before barrel construction, allowing greater development of the wood’s flavor compounds and producing a uniquely rich, complex bourbon. Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. is celebrated as the “Father of the Modern Bourbon Industry.”
The seasoned wood approach extends the typical oak preparation cycle, with the staves allowed to mature in open air for longer before barrel construction. This longer pre-construction seasoning produces wood that contributes deeper, more integrated flavor during whiskey maturation than standard production oak. The result is a bourbon with notably enhanced caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak character.
